The Clarion was founded in March, 1893 and has been in continuous operation since then. The Clarion is the "home town" newspaper for the people of Hancock County, Kentucky, and is published each Thursday.
Hancock County is located in Western Kentucky and borders the Ohio River. It is located approximately 80 miles west of Louisville, Ky and, 25 miles east of Owensboro, KY.
Hawesville is the county seat of Hancock County, and the other major city in the county is Lewisport, 10 miles west of Hawesville. A bridge in Hawesville connects to Cannelton, IN. Tell City, Indiana is a major shopping location for area residents and, is 3 miles from Hawesville.
